October 2020 Dear Fellow Skalleagues, I hope this finds each of you in good health. It has been a difficult year for many, and I sincerely feel for you; especially those who have experienced a job loss or a reduction in your work schedule due to Covid-19. Dear Fellow Skalleagues, I start this newsletter with wishes of continued good health to each of you and your families. We are living in turbulent times where our need to connect with family and friends has never been more important. In place of our April 16th meeting, the Club hosted our first ever Zoom Skal Toast and Conversation. Approximately 50 members attended along with Skal USA President David Ryan. It was great to finally “see” so many of you and hear from President Ryan. He gave an update on the results of the survey that was sent to members. COVID-19 UPDATE: APRIL MEETING
Good afternoon fellow Boston Skalleagues, I start this communication with a heavy heart as I have heard some of you have been furloughed until we can get ahead of this pandemic. I am truly sorry because if there was a time when we need to gather and be among friends, this would be that time. I must once again deliver unfortunate news. Honoring the Governor’s decision to ban gatherings of more than 25 people, our April meeting at the Hampshire House has been cancelled. Fellow Skalleaugues, With the recent declaration of a state of emergency by Governor Baker, and in the best interest of continued good health and safety, I am cancelling the March Skål Boston Luncheon. The luncheon was scheduled to be held at the Royal Sonesta Hotel in Cambridge on Thursday, March 19, 2020. We had a beautiful February luncheon at the Boston Marriott Copley Place. Our host, Skålleague Erin Gilroy, entertained 57 members and 14 guests.
